Pakistan should read its original work ‘VON Apology to Bangladesh’ again. In this work, many well-known Pakistanis have expressed resentment over the crimes committed by the Pakistani Army in 1971. It has been told that under the rule of former President Yahya Khan and military officer Tikka Khan, Bangladesh suffered a terrible pain.
According to a report published on Tuesday (August 26, 2025), the Pakistani army killed 30 lakh Bangladeshis, sexually assaulted 2-4 lakh women, forced 1 crore Bangladeshis to take shelter in India and set Bengali villages and towns on fire.
Bangladeshi journalist, historian and political analyst Syed Badrul Ahsan wrote in an article that General AAK Niyaji had openly talked about making a ‘new breed’ of people through the rape of Bangladeshi women on behalf of the soldiers under his subject. This article was published on the Awami League website and also aired on the party’s social media handle.
He wrote, ‘This is a work that needs to read Shahbaz Sharif and his ministers as well as Field Marshal Asim Munir, so that they can remember what kind of terror his countrymen had spread in Bangladesh, why can’t Pakistan consider Pakistan to be a Bengali brotherhood country in any sense.’
Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar recently claimed during a recent visit to Dhaka that the three unresolved issues between Islamabad and Dhaka, including the old demand for forgiveness on the 1971 massacre, have already been resolved twice.
After a ministerial meeting on Sunday, when questioned about discussion on these unresolved issues, Ishaq Dar replied, ‘This issue was first resolved in 1974. The document of that time is historic for both countries. After this, General Pervez Musharraf came to Bangladesh and resolved the issue. In such a situation, this issue has been resolved twice, once in 1974 and the second time in the early 2000.
Ahsan, who wrote a biography of Bangladesh founder Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, wrote, ‘Did Zulfikar Ali Bhutto apologize for his country during his visit to Bangladesh in June 1974? He had said only ‘Tauba’, as if this is enough to wash the sins committed by his country in 1971, but to themselves. Did Parvez Musharraf apologize? He regretted the tragic events of 1971. This was no way to apologize.
He said that recently some anti -national elements have been encouraged in Bangladesh, who have supported the parties whose goons had killed Bangladeshi Bengalis in 1971 with the help of Pakistani Army. These people have gained force from the comments of those Pakistanis who talk about the reunion of the old country.
During the 1971 massacre, more than 3 million people were killed by the Pakistani Army, while more than 3,00,000 women were raped. Since this massacre, the people of Bangladesh are constantly demanding apology from Pakistan for their vandalism.
