Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav, who is always in the headlines in Bihar politics, is once again in the news. After expulsion from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), he has now filed nomination from Mahua Assembly seat under the banner of his new political party Janashakti Janata Dal. In the affidavit filed during this period, Tej Pratap has disclosed his assets and criminal cases.
According to the affidavit, Tej Pratap Yadav has total assets worth Rs 2.88 crore. This includes movable property worth Rs 91.65 lakh and immovable property worth Rs 1.96 crore. Interestingly, in the year 2020, he had declared movable assets worth Rs 1.22 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 1.6 crore. That is, in the last five years there has been a slight increase in their immovable assets, but there has been a decrease in their movable assets.
on Tej Pratap 8 criminal cases pending
In the election affidavit, Tej Pratap also revealed that 8 criminal cases are pending against him. These include serious category cases like 324,302,120B, 341 in IPC sections. There are 498 cases of dowry harassment and SC/ST Act as well as Arms Act. He has not been convicted in any of these cases yet. It has also been clarified that the details of his wife Aishwarya Rai have not been included in the affidavit, as the divorce case is currently pending in the family court of Patna.
Tej Pratap Yadav is expelled from RJD for 6 years
Tej Pratap Yadav was expelled from the party for 6 years by his father and RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav in May 2025. The reason given was ‘irresponsible behaviour’. After the expulsion, Tej Pratap formed a new party Janashakti Janata Dal and now he is contesting on the ticket of the same party. At the time of nomination, he tried to convey an emotional message by keeping a photo of his late grandmother.

Tej Pratap Yadav’s politics has always been surrounded by controversies. Sometimes his statements, sometimes controversies regarding his personal life, sometimes differences with the party leadership, all these kept him in the headlines continuously. A few months ago, he had claimed on social media that he was in a relationship with a woman, after which the party took strict action and expelled him. Later Tej Pratap said that his Facebook account was hacked.
