As America is tightening its immigration policies like H-1B visa and outsourcing policies, it has created a stir in the technology industry. Especially for those employees who are in America under H-1B visa. An employee associated with this industry posted on social media that despite having received legal status for years and contributing to the American economy, he is feeling threatened there.
The main reason for the employees’ fear is that on September 19, 2025, US President Donald Trump had signed an order imposing an application fee of $ 100,000 on companies applying for new H-1B visas. US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick explained the reason behind the new fees, calling the H-1B visa the most abused immigration program.
‘This time everything is over’
The viral post of this employee working in America under H-1B visa has created an atmosphere of fear among the Indians living there. The post said, “I think this time it’s all over. We have worked hard here. We have been accused of discrimination many times, but we have never done that and have tried to be honest people, yet we are being targeted.”
‘The golden era of H-1B visa is over’
In recent times, H-1B visa holders have been most accused of discriminating against American citizens. In response, the employee said that he always evaluated job candidates on the basis of qualifications and looked at each CV honestly. He said, “The golden era of H-1B visa is over. We should start packing right now and start working on future planning.”
Accused of imposing their demands on Trump government
A user on social media agreed with his post, saying, “Unfortunately, this will not go away. It will gradually become common to question why we are hiring so many non-US citizens for all these high-paying jobs. People will step up and start putting pressure on companies to give citizens priority. Companies will be hesitant in the beginning and will later either outsource or give in to their demands.”
Another user wrote, “The problem of H-1B visa is very big. This program should be limited to less than 5 thousand visas annually. Only those who are most skilled should get this visa. At present there are about 20 lakh H1B/H4 EADs working in America.”
