The biggest terrorist attack in Pahalgam has once again raised questions on the security system. After the Pulwama attack, it is considered to be the biggest terrorist attack, in which the terrorists targeted the tourists who visited Kashmir. Eyewitnesses say that the terrorists shot the tourists by asking the religion. 26 people died and 17 people are said to be injured in this attack.

After the Pahalgam terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also returned to Delhi after canceling his visit to Saudi Arabia, while Home Minister Amit Shah has been holding a front in Jammu and Kashmir since late night. It is being said that at the time when the terrorist attack took place, no security personnel were present in the Baisran Valley of Pahalgam, due to which many people lost their lives. In such a situation, the question arises that on whose order does the police work in Jammu and Kashmir? In both the Chief Minister or Governor, the police of Jammu and Kashmir falls under these two? Let’s know …

Union Territory is Jammu and Kashmir

Let me tell you, after abolishing the provisions of Article 370 in Kashmir, the central government had taken another big decision. The central government divided Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories into Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Along with its decision, the powers of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and Chief Minister were also limited. At the same time, the Lieutenant Governor was given more rights. Let me tell you, as a union territory, the responsibility of police and law and order in Jammu and Kashmir was given directly to the central government. At the same time, issues related to land were under the elected government there. A similar system is also in Delhi, the capital of the country, where the responsibility of police and law and order is with the Lieutenant Governor.

Jammu and Kashmir Police works on LG’s order

According to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, the Jammu and Kashmir Police comes under the Lieutenant Governor. At this time, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir is Manoj Sinha. In such a situation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police will work only on the orders of LG Manoj Sinha. The Chief Minister will not have any right over him. Direct recruitment of Jammu and Kashmir Police is also now through Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission. The departmental promotion committee decides the matters of promotion.
