On the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has given clarification in front of America and has asked to pressurize India not to give a statement against Pakistan. On this request of Shahbaz Sharif, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that US will cooperate with India in the fight against terrorism and Pakistan should support India in the investigation of Pahalgam attack.
Shahbaz Sharif claimed in front of Marco Rubio that Pakistan has sacrificed more than 90 thousand people in the fight against terrorism, while it has suffered more than one and a half billion dollars. Marco Rubio urged the two countries to take over, and also confirmed their commitment to cooperation with India against terrorism. In his conversation with Jaishankar, Rubio expressed grief over the death of people in the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam. 26 people were killed in this attack, most of which were tourists.
A statement issued by Foreign Ministry spokesman Tami Bruce said that Marco Rubio confirmed the US commitment in collaboration with India against terrorism. He also asked India to work with Pakistan to reduce tension in South Asia and maintain peace and security.
Rubio, in a conversation with Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, stressed the need to condemn the terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam and urged Pakistani officials to cooperate in an investigation into this inhuman attack. He urged Pakistan to reduce stress, re -establish direct communication and work with India to maintain peace and security in South Asia.
Rubio and Shahbaz Sharif confirmed their constant commitment to blaming terrorists for the heinous act of violence. A press release issued by the Prime Minister’s Office of Pakistan said that Shahbaz Sharif informed the US Secretary of State from Pakistan’s perspective about the recent developments in South Asia after the Pahalgam terror attack.
The release said that Shahbaz Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s significant contribution in the global fight against terrorism and claimed that more than 90,000 people have died in the country (in the fight against terrorism) and economic loss of more than US $ 152 billion.
Shahbaz Sharif also dismissed the allegations of Pakistan’s involvement in the Pahalgam attack and reiterated Pakistan’s call for a fair investigation. He also urged America to pressurize India not to give a statement against it.
Shahbaz Sharif also mentioned the Indus Water Treaty, about which he said that this is the lifeline of 24 crore people. He claimed that there is no provision for unilateral return from any party. After the Pahalgam attack, India limited diplomatic relations with Pakistan and announced several steps including suspending the Indus Water Treaty of 1960 and immediate closure of the Attari land-tradition post. Pahalgam terrorist attack is the deadliest attack in the valley after the 2019 Pulwama attack.
