Many countries of the world including America, Israel have strongly criticized the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. After this attack, the tension between India and Pakistan has increased considerably. In this series, United Nations General Secretary Antonio Guterres said that the tension between India and Pakistan has increased the most this time in the last several years. I feel sad to see that the relationship has reached a boil situation.
‘To target citizens unacceptable’
The UN Secretary -General said that I understand the feelings of the people after the terrible terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April. I once again strongly condemn that attack and express my condolences to the families of the victims. He further said that it is wrong to target citizens.
Antonio Guterres said that the United Nations is ready to support any initiative that promotes renewed commitment to tension, diplomacy and peace. The General Secretary of UN called for maximum restraint from India and Pakistan.
Region and world cannot tolerate conflict between Indo-Pak
The UN General Secretary said that I express my condolences to the families of people who lost their lives in the Pahalgam attack. Attack on citizens cannot be tolerated at all. Those who have carried out these terrorist attacks should be brought under the purview of law and punished harshly.
I urge the governments of India and Pakistan to exercise maximum restraint and avoid such actions that can make the situation more serious. The region and the world cannot tolerate conflicts between these two countries, which can have tragic results for millions of people. I call on both sides to respect the United Nations Charter and International Law Principles and join the duties to resolve their differences in a peaceful manner and join diplomacy.
