Trump administration response
After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, the Donald Trump administration immediately reacted and reiterated the support of India. On 23 April, President Trump spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the phone and expressed deep condolences to the victims. Trump said through a post on X (East Twitter) that India and America are standing together in the fight against terrorism. It was a heinous attack and its criminals will be brought to the dock of justice. It is clear from this statement that America stands with India not only emotionally but also strategically. This reaction of the Trump administration shows India’s sympathy and support to India’s anti -terrorism policies.
Rubio and Jaishankar’s conversation
On 30 April, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, India’s Foreign Minister S.K. Talked to Jaishankar and reiterated cooperation against terrorism. He encouraged India to reduce tension in the region and maintain peace. Tammy Bruce, a spokesman for the US State Department, said in a statement, “External Affairs Minister Marco Rubio expressed his grief to those killed in a terrible terrorist attack in Pahalgam and confirmed the US commitment to cooperate with India against terrorism.”
Business talks and strategic partnership direction
Mike Johnson also mentioned the trade talks between India and the US in his speech and hoped that it would move well. He jokingly said that no one asked me about the tariff, I am happy.
