Pakistan india tension: Pakistan announced the cancellation of all domestic flights to Gilgit and Scardu on Wednesday (30 April 2025) amid increasing tension with India after the Pahalgam attack. “After a review of the National Aircraft Security Protocol, it was decided to suspend flights to the northern regions. All other flights to the northern regions of Pakistan were also temporarily stopped as a precaution,” said an official.
Monitoring of foreign flights increased
Strict monitoring of foreign flights was also started. According to the information, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) was directed to examine all the upcoming foreign aircraft.
Pakistan has already shut down its airspace for Indian airlines. In this regard, a notice for Airmen (NOTAMN) was issued, in which Indian airlines were banned from Pakistan’s sky for a month initially. Indian airlines were banned from using Pakistani airs. The restrictions are also applicable to the movement of Indian military and VIP aircraft.
On April 22, the terrorists fired indiscriminately on people (mostly tourists) in the Basaron Valley in Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir. At least 26 people died and many others were injured in the attack.
Tension between India and Pakistan at its peak
After the Pahalgam attack, tension between India and Pakistan has reached its peak. New Delhi took many strict diplomatic and strategic steps against Islamabad. These included several steps such as suspending the 1960 Indus Water Agreement with immediate effect, closing attic integrated check posts, suspending visa services for Pakistani citizens with immediate effect. After these decisions in India, Pakistan took some decisions like postponing the Shimla Agreement and shutting down its airspace for Indian flights.
