Pakistan Programe at Sai University: Indian students have registered a sharp protest at the Pakistan conference held in the campus of South Asia Institute (SAI), Harvard University in America. The conference was attended by Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Rizwan Shaheed Sheikh and prominent Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir. The students alleged that this program is giving a platform to a country which promotes terrorism.
Indian students Surabhi Tomar and Abhishek Chaudhary wrote a letter to the university administration and said that Harvard should ensure that his platform does not become a medium for those who kill citizens in the name of religion. He also sent a letter to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and informed about the case. He misunderstood the Pakistani conference and demanded that the university be publicly condemned the Pahalgam attack.
SAI administration gave clarification
SAI’s administrator clarified that the conference was organized by Pakistani students. The institute only provided limited support. However, the executive director of the institute Hitesh Hathi himself was seen participating in a panel discussion. After the matter increased, the institute removed the links and pages related to the conference from its website. Now when someone clicks on these links, the page does not find the show.
What do figures say?
The number of Indian students in America is more than 3.31 lakhs, which is much higher than the rest of the Asian countries. On the other hand, the number of Pakistani students is just 10,988, which is less than China, Bangladesh, Nepal. These figures clarify that Pakistan is continuously lagging behind in the US education system and is trying to re -establish its influence from such programs.
