T20 World Cup 2026 will be organized from 7th February. On the very first day, 6 teams including Team India and Pakistan will be in the field, ICC has released the full schedule of the tournament. As expected, Pakistan cricket team will not come to India for the tournament, they will play all their matches in Sri Lanka. Although Pakistan is in the same group with India, it means that one match of both is confirmed.
Why will Pakistan team not come to India?
The last ICC tournament was held in India in 2023. That was the ODI World Cup, in which Australia defeated India in the final. Pakistan team came to India for this tournament. The India vs Pakistan match was played at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. But this year Team India did not go to Pakistan to play the Champions Trophy, India played all its matches in Dubai. Only after this it was decided that Pakistan would also not come to India.
India and Pakistan in the same group
The World Cup schedule was released at an event organized in Mumbai on Tuesday. After this it became clear that India and Pakistan are in the same group and the match between the two will be played in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Let us tell you that a total of 20 teams will play in this tournament, which have been placed in 4 groups (5 teams in each group). After the group stage, the top 2 teams of each group will go to the next round.
- Group A: India, Pakistan, Namibia, USA, Netherlands
- Group B: Australia, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Zimbabwe, Oman
- Group C: England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Nepal, Italy
- Group D: New Zealand, South Africa, Afghanistan, Canada, UAE
When and where will India vs Pakistan match be played?
Current champion India’s first match in the T20 World Cup 2026 is on February 7, which will be against USA. The India vs Pakistan match will take place on 15 February 2026 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
If Pakistan cricket team reaches the semi-finals, then the first semi-final will be played in Colombo on March 4, otherwise it will be played in Kolkata. If Pakistan reaches the final then the title match will also be played in Colombo, otherwise the final will be played at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
