Pakistan defense minister khawaja asif: Pakistan Defense Minister Khwaja Asif has recently threatened India in a TV interview once. Khwaja Asif said that if India built a dam on the Indus river, Pakistan will attack it. He said that aggression is not only with bullets, stopping water is also an attack.

Khwaja Asif’s statement came at a time when India has put Pakistan in the dock after the Pahalgam attack and diplomatic relations between the two countries deteriorated. In 1960, the IWT (Indus Waters Treaty) between India and Pakistan has been considered as the most successful water agreement in the world so far. Under this treaty, India was given control of Eastern rivers (Ravi, Vyas, Sutlej), while Pakistan got more rights from Western rivers (Indus, Jhelum, Chenab).

India’s tough stand after Pahalgam attack

India has limited permission to perform power projects and other construction work under the conditions set on Western rivers. Pakistan’s response to India’s possibility of suspending the treaty or unilateral cancellation has been serious and aggressive. On April 22, after the death of 26 people in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, India took strong action on Pakistan. In addition to canceling the IWT, India canceled the visas of Pakistani citizens and closed the Wagah-Attari border.

Asif’s absurd statement against India

The Defense Minister of Pakistan believes that India was not getting the support on international forums which it expected. He alleged that India’s allegations were rejected by the international community. The Modi government has no evidence to prove its claims.

India is using water as weapons: Asif

Khwaja Asif had earlier also said that India is using water as a weapon, but we do not want to start war with India. He said that if the situation of war is created, Pakistan will also answer it. The Pak Defense Minister had also said that Pakistan will contact the World Bank regarding the Indus Water Agreement.
