Pakistan vs West Indies ODI 2025: The future of ODI cricket is in crisis, Pakistan and West Indies can take a decision that can have a direct impact on ODI format. Just a few weeks ago, the Champions Trophy is over, in which India registered a historic victory. In fact, in August, the Pakistan team has to visit the Caribbean, where both teams have to play 3 T20 and three ODIs. It is now reported that by canceling this ODI series, more matches can be added to the T20 series.
Pakistan’s Caribbean tour will begin on August 1. According to the Cricket Pakistan website, the Cricket Board of Pakistan and West Indies is considering converting the ODIs to be held on 8, 10 and 12 August into T20 matches. The report claimed that the purpose of converting ODIs into T20 may be preparations for the upcoming T20 tournaments. The Asia Cup is to be played in 2025, while the T20 World Cup is to be held next year. It was claimed that by increasing the number of T20 matches, both teams will be able to prepare a better squad for the upcoming tournaments.
Pakistan has made changes before
If it is agreed to convert ODIs between Pakistan and West Indies into T20, then this will not be happening for the first time. In the same year, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had also offered to convert ODIs into T20 in front of Bangladesh. Although initially it was agreed between the two sides, but later the T20 series was taken action. Since the 2027 ODI World Cup is still 2 years away, very few ODIs can be held before the 2026 T20 World Cup.
