In Chagai district of Balochistan, armed rebel organization Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) attacked the security complex of Pakistan Frontier Corps through a female suicide bomber. This complex was the main center of copper and gold mining projects operated by Chinese companies. At least six Pakistani soldiers were killed in this attack on Sunday evening. This attack is also important because BLF used a female suicide bomber for the first time.
Zarina Rafiq carried out the attack
BLF releases photograph of suicide bomber Zarina Rafiq (aka Trang Mahu). According to the organization, Zarina blew herself up to break the security barrier after entering the main campus. This attack was carried out targeting the projects of Chinese and Canadian companies.
Role of Saddo Operation Battalion
The BLF said the attack was carried out by their suicide unit ‘Saddo Operation Battalion (SOB), named after martyred commander Waza Saddo. This attack gives an idea of the strategy and military capability of BLF.
BLA claims multiple attacks and control
On the other hand, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) also claimed several attacks between 28-29 November. The group said that 27 Pakistani soldiers were killed in these attacks and they also established control over a motorway. BLA used a grenade launcher on the Coast Guard camp in Pasni area of Gwadar.
The BLA said they targeted military intelligence personnel in the Jiwani area with a remote-controlled IED. The house of a Pakistani Major was attacked in Mustang city and six blasts took place at army bases in Quetta.
