Imran Khan release: Discussions have started in Pakistan about the possible release of Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Prime Minister Imran Khan from jail. According to the report of the news agency PTI, Army Chief Asim Munir is adamant on his point. Imran Khan’s party PTI chief Gauhar Ali Khan claimed that the former Prime Minister jailed since August 2023 is likely to get bail on June 11.
This claim of Gauhar Ali Khan came only a few days after Imran Khan appointed himself as the Chief Conservator of PTI, while he announced a planned nationwide protests, which he vowed to lead from behind bars.
Asim Munir is on the backfoot due to these reasons
Gauhar Khan’s claim came after reports of the conversation behind the scenes for Imran Khan’s release, which has been denied by the former PM. Army Chief Asim Munir, who is already on the backfoot after India’s Operation Sindoor, has increased considerably due to increasing public support and decision to lead a nationwide protest from the prison cell of the prison.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear the petitions seeking to suspend the sentence of Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Al-Kadir Trust case of crores. PTI chief Gauhar Ali Khan has described this day as quite important for both.
Imran Khan is lodged in Rawalpindi jail since 2023
72 -year -old Imran Khan has been lodged in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail since August 2023, which he described as illegal. Protests were held in many places including the siege of Islamabad in November 2024, demanding the release from his party PTI regarding this.
Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi was sentenced to 14 years in January 2024 after being convicted in a Toshkhana case for illegally keeping and selling government gifts.
