Pakistan Super League has suffered a double blow. This time PSL is going to compete with the world’s biggest cricket league IPL. Meanwhile, the second bad news for him is that Pakistan Super League matches will be held in empty grounds. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Sunday that PSL 2026 matches will be held without spectators. This decision has been taken in view of the bad situation in the Middle East and the tense situation between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
On one hand the atmosphere in Western Asia is tense, on the other hand Afghanistan is also continuously attacking Pakistan. In such a situation, keeping in mind the safety of the spectators, PCB has decided to hold Pakistan Super League matches in empty grounds i.e. without spectators.
Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that this time Pakistan Super League matches will be played only in 2 cities. The tournament is starting from March 26 and the matches will be held only in Lahore and Karachi. Earlier there was a plan to organize the tournament in 6 cities, but the PCB Chairman said that until the situation becomes normal, the matches will be organized without spectators. Even the opening ceremony has been canceled this time.
Naqvi said that he urges people to reduce movement, hence it would not be safe to allow spectators to enter the ground. The PCB Chief also made it clear that the money of those who have purchased tickets for the matches will be refunded within 72 hours, while the teams will also be compensated for their gate money.
Let us tell you that there is a fuel crisis in Pakistan at present, due to which people have been asked to reduce their movement. Eid holidays have been extended, people are working from home and schools have also been closed.
