Indus water treatment: Soon after the terrorist attack on April 22, 2025 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India suspended the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan. After this, the neighboring country was shocked and started saying that this is a situation of war and started asking to plead it in the World Bank. The World Bank has responded to the matter.

According to news agency Reuters, the World Bank spokesperson said that there was a signature on Trititi for limited defined works and does not express its opinion on the sovereignty decisions related to the treaty taken by its member countries.

Now India is not obliged to follow the treaty

Since the suspension of this treaty, a question has been going on in the minds of the countrymen that how much Pakistan will suffer due to suspended this treaty. What is the meaning of the Indus Water Treaty between the two countries and how much damage to Pakistan will be. In this regard, news agency IANS interacted with Kushwinder Vohra, former head of the Central Water Commission. He said that after the Sindhu water treaty suspension, we are not obliged that we should share information to the neighboring country Pakistan.

He said that till now we were bound about some things under the Indus Water Treaty, but, first of all it is also necessary to know which rivers are under this treaty. He said that there are six rivers inside this treaty. Ravi, Beas and Sutlej are all its water for India. Apart from this, most of the water of Indus, Jhelum and Chenab is for Pakistan.

How much will Pakistan suffer?

He said that this treaty took place in 1960. In which there was some compulsion but, after the suspension of the treaty, there is no compulsion now. Now there will be no need to share data after suspension. There will be no meeting between the India-Pak commission. Apart from this, people from Pakistan also used to come here to see which projects are going on here, now there will be no need for it.

He further said that he had to give information about the project we used to make. Pakistan generally used to extract flaws in our projects as usual, but now, there will be no need to give that information. During the monsoon, India will not give any update to Pakistan about the flood situation within the Indus river system. I think Pakistan will have trouble as long as this Indus Water Treaty is suspended.
