According to India Today, veteran Indian cricketer Chetan Sharma said what was the mistake of the Bangladesh players. He called this entire controversy politically motivated because elections are to be held in Bangladesh on February 12. Chetan Sharma claimed that after the elections, Pakistan will definitely take a U-turn on the boycott.

Chetan Sharma said, “Elections are to be held in Bangladesh on February 12, after that Pakistan will definitely take a U-turn. A statement will be issued from its side, ‘Keeping in mind the sentiments of the people, the game of cricket should not be harmed. This stand of Pakistan is only regarding the elections to be held in Bangladesh.’
He further said that Pakistan Cricket Board has not yet officially informed ICC regarding the boycott. Rhetoric has no meaning without official confirmation. He said that cricketers are suffering the most loss here.
