Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman has recently been fined 10 percent of his match fee for violating ICC Code of Conduct Level-1 during the final match of the tri-series against Sri Lanka. In that title match held on Saturday, 29 November, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets. Fakhar was out after scoring 3 runs in that match.
The ICC said in its statement that Zaman was found to have violated Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “showing disagreement with an umpire’s decision during an international match”. One demerit point has been added to Zaman’s disciplinary record, which was his first offense in the last 24 months.
This happened in the 18th over of the Pakistani innings, he was unhappy with his wicket and the decision, after which he had a long argument with the on-field umpire.
Fakhar Zaman admitted his mistake
This punishment was proposed by Ryan King of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees. This allegation was made by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza, Asif Yaqoob, third umpire Rashid Riaz and fourth umpire Faisal Afridi. Zaman admitted his crime and accepted the punishment, so there was no need for a formal hearing.
Mohammad Nawaz was the hero of the final
In that final played in Rawalpindi, Sri Lanka, batting first, was bundled out for 114 runs, while opener batsman Kamil Mishara played a good inning of 59 runs. For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz took 3 wickets each, Nawaz gave only 17 runs in 4 overs.
Chasing a small target, Sahibzada Farhan (23) and Sam Ayub (36) made a partnership of 46 runs for the first wicket. Babar Azam had scored an unbeaten 37 runs, Fakhar Zaman was out after scoring 3 runs on the first ball of the 18th over, although Pakistan needed only 11 runs to win.
