The process of retirement of Pakistani cricketers continues between the Asia Cup. Just 2 days ago, fast bowler Usman Shinwari announced his retirement. Now another fast bowler Wakas Maqsood has retired from international cricket at the age of 37. He played only one T20 match for Pakistan, which came against New Zealand in 2018.

Wakas Maqsood played only one T20 match for Pakistan. In that match against New Zealand in Dubai, Maqsood took 2 wickets by bowling 1.5 overs. He became the 80th player to debut for Pakistan in T20 format. In that match, he dismissed Lockie Furganus and Saith Rans within just 5 balls.

Born in Faisalabad, Wakas Maqsood gained a lot of recognition in the domestic career, which lasted for almost a decade. He took 294 wickets in 81 first-class matches. He also achieved proper success in List-A career, where he took 87 wickets in 56 matches. He has 77 wickets in 68 T20 matches.

Maqsood has also played in Pakistan Super League. For both Islamabad United and Karachi Kings, they played a total of 20 matches in PSL, in which they took 27 wickets. He played a last competitive match in November 2023.

Two days ago, Usman Shinwari also retired. He took 48 wickets in all three formats by playing 34 matches for Pakistan. He made his international debut for Pakistan at the age of just 19. But his career could not last long.
