Under the captaincy of Sarfaraz, Pakistan won the Champions Trophy title in 2017. Pakistan had defeated Team India in the final of the tournament. Sarfaraz, who played a total of 232 international matches in his career, captained Pakistan in 100 matches in all three formats. He commanded Pakistan in 50 ODIs, 37 T20 Internationals and 13 Tests. Under his captaincy, Pakistan team achieved number one ranking in T20 and made a record of winning 11 consecutive T20 series.

Talking about Sarfaraz’s international career, he played 54 Tests, 117 ODIs and 61 T20 International matches. In Tests, Sarfaraz scored 3031 runs at an average of 37.41, which included 4 centuries and 21 half-centuries. In 91 innings of ODI, the Pakistani batsman scored 2315 runs at an average of 33.55. During this period, 2 centuries and 11 half-centuries were scored. In T20 International, he scored 818 runs, which included 3 fifties.
ICC titles at junior and senior level
Sarfaraz became the only captain for Pakistan who won ICC trophies at junior and senior level. In 2006, under the captaincy of Sarfaraz, Pakistan won the Under-19 World Cup title. After this, he made Pakistan victorious under his captaincy in the 2017 Champions Trophy.
Was out of the team for a long time
The thing to note is that Sarfaraz Ahmed, who plays all three formats, was out of the Pakistan team for a long time. He played his last white ball match for Pakistan in the T20 International against Bangladesh in November 2021. Whereas Sarfaraz played his last test in December 2023.
