Pakistan’s JF-17 Block III fighter aircraft have reached Azerbaijan. These aircraft have been sent to participate in joint exercises between the two countries. JF-17 reached Azerbaijan without stopping
Pakistani fighter planes flew non-stop from their base in Pakistan to Azerbaijan, showcasing their long-range flying capability. The Pakistan Army statement said that this exercise reflects the commitment of the Pakistan Air Force to regional stability and global military cooperation.

Azerbaijan-Pakistan’s strong relations
Azerbaijan and Pakistan have been partner countries for a long time. In May this year, both countries supported Islamabad during the India-Pakistan border conflict. At that time the Pak Air Force used JF-17 Block III and J-10CE aircraft and electronic warfare equipment.

Big deal for JF-17 for Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan has signed a $4.6 billion contract with Pakistan for 40 JF-17 Block III jets, the largest ever export order for the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex. Azerbaijan has purchased this aircraft mainly in view of the increasing tension with Armenia.

Features of JF-17 Block III
JF-17 Thunder is a single-engine multi-role fighter aircraft, which has been jointly developed by Pakistan and China. This aircraft has a Chinese airframe, Western avionics and Russian engine. Its service altitude is 50,000 feet and maximum speed is 1,200 mph. This aircraft is capable of carrying out missions like air interception and ground attack. It has a two-barreled 23 mm autocannon and a capacity to hold approximately 7,000 pounds of ammunition on seven hardpoints. The upgraded Block III version also includes AESA radar, PL-15 missiles and helmet mounted cue system. The aircraft can carry electro-optical/infrared sensors and self-defense jammers on external pods.
