Recently, Arijit Singh, one of the most popular and top singers of Bollywood, surprised everyone by announcing his retirement from playback singing. Many celebs had given their opinion on this decision of the singer. Now singer-composer Palash Sen has reacted to Arijit Singh quitting playback singing. He said that he understands this decision very well, because he himself had gone through a similar phase in the beginning of his career.
Talking about his own journey, Palash said that he understands why Arijit has decided to move on, and added that he too had similar experiences in the film industry years ago and ultimately decided to make his own path away from films.
Palash Sen told the experience of his first film
On Instagram, Palash shared several pictures from his 2002 film “Filhaal”, which marked the debut of Meghna Gulzar. Sanjay Suri, Tabu and Sushmita Sen were also in this film. Sharing these pictures, Palash wrote, “24 years ago on this day or maybe 2nd February, my first film as an actor, for now, was released… It flopped… Most of the critics called me very bad and most of the film people trolled me… There was a certain model/actress who lectured me on why I should not act in films, as did many others.”
The “Maeri” singer said, “Initially I had no interest in films.” He said, “I did this film because I wanted to sing a song written by the all-time legend poet-writer Gulzar Sahab. This song was to be composed by the legendary Anu ji, it was like my second dream come true and that was it. I really don’t know why I was considered a threat.” He said he was just there to have fun and do his job “to the best of my ability.”
Palash Sen further wrote, “I got to work with the amazing Sushmita, Tabu and Sanjay, that was my reward. Finally, being directed by the amazing Meghna is the most memorable experience of my life. I have only beautiful memories and I am very proud of the film from this point forward. In fact, now that it is becoming so successful on TV, I feel very happy and good.”
Why did Arijit Singh leave playback singing?
Then he talked about Arijit Singh and his decision to quit playback singing. Palash wrote, “The truth is that I know why my brother, Arijit is leaving the film playback. I was there long ago and I had chosen my own path… the path on which I know Arijit will now walk.”
Palash further said, “Interesting thing – that year I was nominated for all the Best Newcomer Awards… including Filmfare… Of course I didn’t win anything. Even Euphoria never won anything. But you know, the people of this country gave me so much love… more than any award and even from that model?? Hahahaha.”
Arijit Singh had announced in the post to quit playback singing
Let us tell you that on January 27, Arijit had announced that he will no longer do any new work as a playback singer. He wrote in the post, “Hello, Happy New Year to everyone. I want to thank all of you for showering so much love on me as a listener for so many years. I am happy to announce that I will not be doing any new work as a playback singer from now on. I am ending it. It was a wonderful journey.”
