Liver Disease Symptoms Stool: Often, while looking into the toilet, people suddenly notice a change; the color of the potty is no longer the same as before. At first glance this seems like a small thing, but this change leaves questions in the mind. The color may seem trivial, but it can also be an indication of the processes going on inside the body. When stool appears light in color, clay-like or putty-like, it may be related to the system that handles bile. This includes the liver, gallbladder, and pancreas, organs that normally function without any problems.
painless change
Often this change comes without pain. Sometimes there is mild fatigue, nausea or no symptoms. It is this silent change that troubles people. Therefore, it is important to understand what light colored poop can indicate, so that advice can be taken at the right time without panic and small signals from the body should not be ignored. Generally the brown color of potty is due to bile. The liver produces bile, which reaches the intestines through bile vessels. It helps in digesting fat and changes its color during digestion. If due to some reason the bile does not reach the intestines in normal quantity, the color of the stool becomes lighter. This change happens gradually, so many times it is not noticed until late.
There can be many reasons for gallbladder flow to stop or slow down. Sometimes due to inflammation or infection in the liver, less bile is produced. In many cases, bile is produced but is unable to move forward due to blockage in the vessels. Gallbladder stones are a common cause. Additionally, some tumors, whether cancerous or not, can put pressure on the biliary system. Gradually forming strictures inside the tubes can also be the cause.
Medicines cause problems
Some medicines and alcohol can also affect the color of stool. Some antibiotics and medications that affect the liver can interfere with the formation or flow of the gallbladder. Drinking alcohol for a long time or in large quantities can cause swelling in the liver. Bile production may decrease in alcoholic hepatitis, the effect of which is visible in the color of the potty. In such a situation, fatigue or yellowing of skin and eyes may also occur. Sometimes jaundice is also seen with light colored poop. This happens when chemicals related to bile start accumulating in the body and are unable to come out. Skin and eyes start looking yellow. If these two symptoms occur together, it can be a strong indication of a blockage or slow flow in the biliary system.
When to meet the doctor?
If the color of the poop remains light for several days, it is wise to talk to a doctor, especially if it is accompanied by jaundice, itching, dark urine or persistent fatigue. Sometimes the cause is temporary, but not always. The body often does not give loud warnings, but instead sends small signals. The color of the potty is one such silent sign that should not be ignored if it persists for a long time.
