Patanjali Emergency and Critical Care Hospital has been informally inaugurated at Patanjali Yogpeeth with the rituals of Yagya-Agnihotra and Veda mantras. On this occasion, Swami Ramdev said that today a new chapter of the ritual of medical science is starting. This system of Patanjali is a medical democratic system, which is fair for the patients. He announced that this hospital is just a seed in Haridwar, a bigger version than AIIMS, Apollo or Medanta will come up very soon in Delhi and NCR. The special thing will be that this will not be a corporate hospital, in which patients will be served and not business. Our objective is to provide health to patients under Integrative Medicine System.
Baba Ramdev further said, “Patanjali had a long-standing idea that where it was absolutely necessary, the help of modern medical science should be taken. It will be a new vision for the whole world that we will use this mode only as an emergency. We have the confluence of a trinity of dedicated doctors coordinated and inspired by this new vision. On one side, there are Ayurveda doctors who are experts in our traditional knowledge, on the other side, there are doctors who are proficient in modern medical science and on the third side there are naturopathic doctors. Along with this, there will be facility of paramedical staff for arranging tests with state-of-the-art machines.
What facilities will be available? Baba Ramdev told
Baba Ramdev said, “Except cancer surgery, all other surgeries have been arranged here. We also plan to make cancer surgery accessible in future. Arrangements for brain, heart and spine surgeries, which are considered extremely complex, are also available in this hospital. Apart from this, patients will also be able to get the facilities of MRI, CT scan, X-ray, ultrasound, pathological examination etc. here. He said, “Top parameters from all over the world have been followed here. There are arrangements for surgery and critical care of hundreds of patients every day. In Patanjali, surgery will be done only when absolutely necessary and patients will also be able to avoid the burden of arbitrary packages of hospitals.
At the same time, Acharya Balkrishna said, “Only 20 percent of modern medical science is required for treatment. If 80 percent traditional medicine is added to this, then within four to five years we will be successful in organizing the medical system in the entire world. While on one hand we will have to accept modern medical science for critical care, on the other hand we will have to accept Yoga-Ayurveda as a solution for diseases considered incurable. It is mentioned in Charak and Sushruta Samhita that the resolution given to the doctor is not for any particular disease but to cure the patient. Today our medical knowledge has been divided among the physicians, but the aim was not to distribute it among the physicians. The aim was to make the patient comfortable. The doctor declared that we neither want a kingdom nor heaven, we just want the power that can cure the disease and pain of the sad, sick and suffering. How many practitioners of that spirit are there today is a question worth pondering.
Our target is to provide health to patients – Acharya Balkrishna
Acharya Balkrishna further said, “In big hospitals, doctors are given targets, we told the doctors on the very first day that there is no target for you here, there is only one target – to provide health to the patients. As a mission, we have to make this project an ideal model of service and set an example of integrated medical system in the whole world. There are many challenges for this, which we have to overcome.
He said, “Some people ask why only Patanjali for all this? This is because we have a world class research center along with the hospital. We have established Yoga-Ayurveda as evidence based medicine. Today we have huge clinical data of patients, evidence, Bio Safety Level-2 certification, in-vivo for animal testing and in-vitro research for other laboratory tests. Patanjali is also doing research on nuclear medicine and personalized medicine. Apart from Patanjali, no other hospital has this capability. Our years old dream seems to be coming true. In the coming days, Baba Ramdev and Patanjali will be the symbols of Integrated Medicine System.
