It seems that Pakistan Cricket Board is determined to be involved in a big controversy every year. Last year, the PCB chairman ran away with the Asia Cup 2025 trophy. Now news has come that PCB is preparing to impose a heavy fine of Rs 50 lakh each on its own players, because Pakistan team could not reach the semi-finals of T20 World Cup 2026. Former cricketers like Shahid Afridi to Aakash Chopra have strongly criticized this decision.

PCB’s small thinking – Shahid Afridi

Shahid Afridi reacted to the issue of fine on the players and said, “It is difficult to understand this decision. It is small thinking and it is a small amount. What will you do with Rs 50 lakh? It does not sound like a punishment.”
Afridi further said that players who did not do well should be sent to play first-class cricket. Afridi also said that there are some players in the Pakistan cricket team who should not be allowed to join the team for at least 2 years.

Aakash Chopra also rained

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra termed imposing fine on players as unjust. Akash said that even the players who perform well will be affected by this. The former Indian cricketer said that if Sahibzada Farhan is fined, he will definitely think about what wrong he did. He scored 383 runs in the entire tournament and created history by scoring 2 centuries. Regarding Naseem Shah also, Akash said that he played only one match, then why is he being dragged on the basis of his performance.
Aakash Chopra called it a way to extort money. He said that questions should be asked to the selectors about the performance and the decision to impose penalty is very casual.

Give all the money to Sahibzada Farhan

Another former Pakistani cricketer Rashid Latif even said that money should be collected from all other players and given to Sahibzada Farhan as a reward. Because Farhan single-handedly did the work of all the other batsmen. He scored 383 runs in the entire tournament.
According to media reports, the decision to impose fine on Pakistani players was taken only after the defeat against the Indian team on 15 February.
