The statement given by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar while defending the Tunnel Road Project of Bengaluru has created controversy. On which now Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Tejashwi Surya has given a sharp reaction. Regarding the Tunnel Road Project, Deputy CM DK had said that people do not marry their daughters to men who do not have a car.
BJP MP Tejashwi Surya took a dig at the Deputy CM’s statement and said that the purpose of the Tunnel Road project is not to solve traffic but to solve a social problem. That is, the problem of those people who do not want to marry without a car. Tejashwi had met DK Shivkumar regarding the Tunnel Road Project and demanded to cancel this project and increase public transport, but DK Shivkumar rejected his demands.

DK Shivakumar had said that Tejashwi Surya does not understand the social reasons for people buying cars. He told the media, ‘Can I stop you from bringing your car? This is a matter of social responsibility. People like to travel in their cars with their families. Can we stop them from doing this? If necessary, MPs should appeal to their voters to leave their vehicles at home and use public transport. Let’s see how many people do this. Today people don’t even marry their daughters to a boy who doesn’t have a car.

On this comment of Deputy CM, Tejashwi Surya said, ‘Till now I was under the misconception that the Tunnel Road project is to solve the traffic problem of Bengaluru. Now the Deputy Chief Minister has made it clear that this is to solve a social problem. How foolish I was!’
