Demand for foldable will increase more than flip
Counterpoint Research’s report says that in 2026, the demand for book-style foldable phones with large screens will be higher than that of flip phones. Book-style foldable phones will account for 52 percent of global shipments of foldable phones in 2025. This year this number may increase to 65 percent. On the other hand, the demand for flip phones is expected to decrease. A big reason for this is that people are buying big screen foldable phones considering them as productivity-focused devices, whereas the form factor like flip phone is no longer new for them.
Apple will explode
Apple’s first foldable phone has been awaited for a long time. This wait will finally end in September this year, when Apple will launch the iPhone Fold. Counterpoint says that Apple’s book-style iPhone can see a huge increase in the sales of this segment. Apple also has high expectations from this iPhone. It has also been said in the report that the initial phase of foldable phones has now passed and now the emphasis is on making multitasking easier on them.
