As per his habit, Prime Minister Modi started his speech with a few sentences in Maithili and used idioms and proverbs in the local dialect, which was welcomed by the people present in the gathering with applause.

PM Modi praised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and said, ‘Kumar has been the Chief Minister of the NDA government in Bihar for the last 20 years (except a few months in between). He came to power in 2005, but almost a decade of his tenure was hampered by the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre, which was continuously blackmailed by the RJD that the RJD would withdraw support if it supported the NDA government in Bihar.’

PM Modi asked the people present at the public meeting to switch on the lights of their mobile phones and taking a dig at the RJD, said, ‘When all the people have such modern equipment available, there is no need for lanterns. At the same time, the opposition India alliance is being led by people who are released on bail. Taking a dig at the grand alliance in Bihar, he said that the fights between the allies show that this is not an alliance but a ‘lathbandhan’. Whereas NDA with its unity presents an opposite picture.

He said that Bihar is the land of talent like Aryabhata and the people here cannot trust the RJD-Congress alliance, which had destroyed the rule of law. Accusing the opposition, he said, ‘During RJD’s rule, ransom, kidnapping, murder and extortion were flourishing like an industry and our mothers, sisters and people from weaker sections were the most victims of Jungle Raj. These ‘Lathbandhan’ leaders, who talked about returning Jungle Raj, are now talking about ‘Donali’ and desi Katta.

Taking aim at the Grand Alliance, Modi said, ‘Their leaders are fighting among themselves. We have to ensure that every BJP worker reaches the polling booth and casts every vote correctly. You all remember – first voting, then refreshments.
