Muslim population: The recent report of Pew Research Center states that Islam is not only the second largest religious group in the world, but has also become the fastest growing religion. Between 2010 and 2020, the Muslim population has increased by 21 percent, that is, this figure increased from 170 crores to 200 crores. This growth is twice the global average population growth (10%). Now one in every four of the world is Muslim. That is, Muslims have 26 percent global share in the population of the whole world. On the other hand, there has been an increase of only 9.7 percent in the non-Muslim population. It has recorded a decrease of 0.1 percent in the population of Hindus. In 2010, the population of Hindus was 15 percent, which increased to 14.9 in 2020.

These figures not only show demographic changes, but will also affect cultural, political and social scenario in the coming decades. According to the report of Pew Research Center, the largest population of Muslims was increased by 52 percent in North America from 2010 to 2020. The total Muslim population here is 59 lakhs. Here Islam is rapidly spread due to newborn conversion, refugee immigration and natural population growth.

If we talk about the increase in Muslim population in different parts of the world, then between 2010 and 2020, Sub-Sahara Africa recorded an increase of 34 percent. The region records a high increase in Muslim population due to natural population growth and presence of Islamic education centers. The total Muslim population in the Asia Pacific region is 26 per cent, where 1.4 per cent Muslim population has increased. This region is the largest stronghold of Muslims – Muslim population is increasing continuously due to countries like Indonesia, Pakistan, India and Bangladesh here. In Europe, there has been an increase of 0.7 percent in Muslim population due to immigration in Europe.
