Plastic is harmfull for health: Nowadays plastic items are used in most homes. But people do not know how bad it is to use plastic for the body. Plastic items have become a silent killer for our body. Due to the harmful effects of fatelets commonly used in making plastic items, more than 3.5 million deaths occurred around the world in the year 2018, with the highest number of people aged 55 to 64 years. This has been claimed in a research.

How many people died in India?

Research published in the magazine ‘EbiaMedicine’ found that India and Indonesia are ranked the highest number of 1,03,587 deaths in India. Research also found that out of 3.5 lakh deaths, about three quarters took place in South Asia, West Asia, East Asia and Pacific Ocean regions. Under the leadership of researchers at the University of New York, health and environmental data were analyzed from population surveys to estimate the side effects of Fatelets in 200 countries and regions.

Research focuses on the type of ‘dy-2-athylhexil fatelet’ (DEHP), which is used to make plastic soft and more flexible in items such as foods. The amount of products caused by the chemical disintegration of Fatelets was detected by analyzing data, including urine samples.

Very dangerous for health

Sarah, an associate research scientist at the School of Medicine at New York University and the lead writer of research, said, “By highlighting the relationship between Fatelets and a major cause of deaths around the world, our conclusions indicate that these chemicals are pose a huge threat to human health.”

According to research, “In 2018, 3,56,238 deaths worldwide occurred due to the ill effects of DEHP, which is 13.49 percent of all cardiovascular deaths in the age group of 55 to 64 years.” Research has found that Paithets have broken into micro particles and enter the human body, which increases the risk of many diseases like obesity, reproductive problems and cancer.

The risk of heart attack increased- experts

Expert said that coming in contact with this compound causes swelling in the arteries of the heart, which further pose a risk of heart attack. Research states that the plastic industry in India is growing rapidly and due to plastic waste and comprehensive use of this item, exposure to Fatelets is threatening health.

“Our results underline the immediate need for global regulation, especially in areas where plastic is being used more,” said Lyonardo Transande, a professor and senior writer of the Department of Pediatrics at the School of Medicine at New York University, especially in areas where plastic is being used more. “
