Bangladesh new currency note: Bangladesh has started issuing new bank notes from Sunday (June 1, 2025). These new currency notes will no longer have a photo of former Prime Minister and founder father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Instead, pictures of Hindu and Buddhist temples were given attention. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is also the father of Sheikh Hasina.

After Sheikh Hasina was out of power and after the political crisis in the country, Bangladesh Bank announced last year that he would work towards issuing new notes. Speaking to news agency AFP, Bangladesh Bank spokesman Arif Hussain Khan said that the new currency will focus on displaying the natural landscape and historical sites of Bangladesh.

Different price not notes will be released

He said, “Under the new series and design, there will be no human photo on the notes, but will be displayed natural landscape and traditional sites.” According to the AFP report, bank notes will include the artwork of Hindu, Buddhist temples, late Zainul Abedin and National Shaheed Memorials, which pay tribute to those killed during the 1971 liberation war.

Bangladesh Bank has issued three different price notes. Khan said, “The new notes will be issued from the headquarters of the central bank and later will be issued from other offices across the country. Note notes of different prices will be issued in stages.”

When did the currency of Bangladesh changed?

This is not the first time Bangladesh has changed its currency. After being independent of Pakistan in 1972, the country changed its currency. The map of the newly built country was printed on these notes. After these notes, a photo of Awami League leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was printed on the new price class notes.
