As soon as the name of Holi comes, one starts feeling homesick, but getting confirmed tickets in trains going to UP and Bihar has become a big challenge this time. Holi is on March 4, 2026 and about 2 months before the festival, most of the sleeper and reserve class seats in the trains were filled. In such a situation, in view of the increasing crowd of passengers, Indian Railways has taken a relief decision and has announced Holi special trains. According to the Railways, many special trains will be run for passengers going to UP, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh between February 28 and March 9. Along with this, extra trips have also been increased in some regular trains. So that there is less crowd and passengers do not face any problem in travelling. Special trains will run on Holi
Railways has planned to run about 1410 special trains across the country on the occasion of Holi. Of these, 108 trains will be run by Northern Railway alone, which will mainly depart from the stations of Delhi NCR. This will help people working in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram to reach home. The role of Eastern Railway will also be important. 285 special trains will be run by ECR on the routes of Bihar and Eastern UP. Whereas Western Railway will run 231, Central Railway 209, South Central Railway 160, Northern Railway 108 and North Western Railway 71 special trains.
Major Holi special trains of UP-Bihar route
In view of the crowd on the UP-Bihar route during Holi, many special trains will be run by the Railways. Sogaria-Danapur-Sogaria Holi special train will run on this route. This weekly train will run from 28 February to 9 March. On its way to Prayagraj, there will be stops at railway stations like Chhivki, Mirzapur, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction, Buxar and Arrah. In such a situation, you can get a seat in this train. Apart from this, Rani Kamlapati-Danapur-Rani Kamlapati Holi special train will also run. This train will make two trips between February 27 and March 3 and will pass through stations like Jabalpur, Katni, Satna, Prayagraj, Chhivki. Durg-Hazrat Nizamuddin-Durg Holi special train will also run. This train will run from Durg on 1st to 2nd March and from Delhi on 2nd to 3rd March. This train will stop at many big stations including Mathura, Agra, Jhansi, Sagar, Katni and Raipur. Apart from this, Hapa-Naharlagun train will also run. Extra trips have been made in this train, which will make the journey from Gujarat to the North-East easier.
What is the booking condition now?
Booking of trains has increased before Holi. Sleeper and AC class seats are full in most of the trains going from New Delhi to Patna, Darbhanga, Jaynagar, Prayagraj and Ranchi. Forget about confirmed tickets, the waiting list in many trains has also increased considerably. At the same time, the waiting list on some major routes has crossed 90 to 200. Seats are not available in about 80 percent of the trains on Delhi, Howrah and Patna routes. Apart from this, long waiting is also going on in many trains like Punjab Mail, Mahakaushal Express, Patal Lok Express, Amritsar Express, Kerala Express, Bhopal and New Delhi Shatabdi.
