The Bihar government is constantly taking steps to increase the income of farmers and give a new dimension to horticulture. In this episode, the state government has recently launched ‘Small Nursery Yojana’. The objective of this scheme is to promote fruits and plants nursery in the private sector, to make farmers self -sufficient and develop plant production extensively.
Plan purpose
Agriculture is the main income means in Bihar, but the income of farmers is limited by traditional farming. The government wants that farmers should not be limited to paddy and wheat, but also connect with activities like horticulture. With this thinking, a small nursery scheme has been prepared. Under this, farmers or entrepreneurs can install nursery of fruits and other plants on their land. This will increase plant production on one side and will increase the income of farmers on the other side.
How much will you get help?
The government has set a cost of Rs 20 lakh per hectare for this scheme. Out of this, subsidy of up to Rs 10 lakh per hectare will be given to farmers or beneficiaries.
- 60% i.e. 6 lakh rupees will be given as the first installment.
- In the second installment, the remaining 40% i.e. 4 lakh rupees will be available.
- The subsidy amount will be sent directly to the beneficiary’s bank account through DBT.

Who can apply?
- It is mandatory for the applicant to be registered on the DBT portal of Bihar.
- He should have land ownership certificates or valid documents.
- People of Scheduled Castes and Tribes category will have to give caste certificate along with applications.

- The application for this scheme is completely online. Interested people can apply by visiting the official website of the Directorate of Bihar Horticulture.bihar.gov.in.
- Click on the link ‘Establishment of Chhoti Nursery’ on the website.
- Fill the information sought and upload the necessary documents.
- After submitting the application, there will be investigation at the district level. The assistance amount will be released to the beneficiary only if it is found eligible.
