Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (October 16, 2025) inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth Rs 13,430 crore for various parts of the state in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. These projects are related to major sectors like industry, power, roads, railways, defense manufacturing, petroleum and natural gas.
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the Transmission System Strengthening Project at Kurnool-3 Pooling Station at a cost of approximately Rs 2,880 crore. The project involves construction of 765 KV dual circuit Kurnool-3 Pooling Station-Chilakaluripeta Transmission Line, which will increase the power supply capacity by 6,000 MVA and ensure supply of renewable energy on a large scale.
Expectation of getting one lakh jobs
Modi laid the foundation stone of Orvakal Industrial Area in Kurnool and Kopparthi Industrial Area in Cuddapah, which will see a total investment of more than Rs 4,920 crore. Developed jointly by the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) and Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (APIIC), these modern multi-sector industrial hubs will include ‘plug-and-play’ infrastructure and ‘walk-to-work’ concept.
These industrial centers are expected to attract investment of Rs 21,000 crore and generate approximately one lakh jobs, which will boost industrial growth and global competitiveness in the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh.
Inauguration of four-lane Rail Over Bridge (ROB)
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of a 6-lane greenfield highway from Sabbavaram to Sheelanagar at a cost of over Rs 960 crore. The objective of this project is to reduce congestion and facilitate trade and employment in the port city of Visakhapatnam.
Modi inaugurated the project of converting the Pileru-Kalur section of road into a four-lane road, widening of the road from Cuddapah-Nellore border to Mukhyamantri Puram and a four-lane Rail Over Bridge (ROB) constructed between Gudivada and Nuzella railway station on NH-165.
Natural gas pipeline also inaugurated
He also inaugurated the improvement project of Kanigiri Bypass on NH-565 and bypassed section at N Gundlapalli Town on NH-544DD. Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated railway projects worth more than Rs 1,200 crore. He laid the foundation stone of Kothavalasa-Vizianagaram fourth railway line, rail flyover between Pendurthi and Simhachalam North.
The Prime Minister inaugurated the project related to doubling of Kottavalasa-Boddavara section and Shimiliguda-Gorapur section. In the energy sector, the PM inaugurated GAIL India Limited’s Srikakulam-Angul natural gas pipeline, which has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 1,730 crore and extends about 124 km in Andhra Pradesh and 298 km in Odisha.
PM Modi visited the Devasthanam of Srisailam
He inaugurated Indian Oil’s 60 TMTPA (thousand metric tons per annum) LPG bottling plant at Chittoor, which has been set up with an investment of about Rs 200 crore. The Prime Minister inaugurated the ‘Advanced Night Vision Products Factory’ set up by Bharat Electronics Limited with an investment of about Rs 360 crore at Nimmaluru in Krishna district. Earlier, he visited Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swami Varala Devasthanam in Srisailam in Nandyal district.
