Cyprus Highest Honor to PM Modi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the highest civilian honor of Cyprus. For the first time in two decades, an Indian Prime Minister’s visit to Cyprus
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a grand welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus. He has arrived on a two -day official visit on the invitation of Cyprus President Nicos Christodaulides. This tour is also special because it is the first Cyprus visit of an Indian Prime Minister in the last twenty years. During this time, many important issues are to be discussed between PM Modi and President Christodaulids, which is expected to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
India’s strategic message to Türkiye
This visit of Prime Minister Modi is also considered very important from strategic point of view. Türkiye has been occupied by the northern part of Cyprus for a long time and there has been tension between the two countries since 1974. Turkey is also alleged to have not only supported Pakistan during ‘Operation Sindoor’, but also provided drones for use against India. In such a situation, this visit of PM Modi is seen as giving a clear diplomatic message to Turkey that India is serious about its strategic interests and now the Mediterranean countries also hold a prominent place in the realm of its foreign policy.
