Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the first World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (Waves) at the Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai. Along with this, the five great personalities of Indian cinema issued a memorial postage stamp on Gurudutt, P. Bhanumati, Raj Khosla, Ritwik Ghatak and Salil Chaudhary.
Guru dutt
Guru Dutt’s real name was Vasant Kumar Shivshankar Padukone. He died on 10 October 1964. He was a famous actor, director and filmmaker of Hindi films. He made many magnificent films in the 1950s and 1960s, including ‘Pyaasa’, ‘Paper Ke Phool’, ‘Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam’ and ‘Chaudhir Ka Chand’. He is also called ‘Orson Wales of India’. Actually, Arson Wales was a famous American film director, actor, writer and producer. He is counted among the most influential and revolutionary filmmakers of the 20th century.
P. Bhanumati
P. Bhanumati was an Indian actress, filmmaker, director, singer and musician. He died on 24 December 2005. He breathed his last at the age of 80. She is considered the first female superstar of Telugu cinema. She was also the first female director of Telugu cinema. He made ‘Chandirani’ in 1953. He worked in more than 100 films in Telugu and Tamil languages in his career. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2001 for his contribution to Indian cinema.
Raj Khosla
Raj Khosla gave a different direction to Indian cinema. Due to his arrival, there were many big changes in Hindi cinema. He used to give a strong role to actresses in his films. He gave superhit films like ‘CID’, ‘Ek Musafir’, ‘Ek Hasina’, ‘Who was that?’, ‘Mera Saaya’, ‘Do Rasta’, ‘Mera Village Mera Desh’, ‘Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki’, ‘Dostana’. He said goodbye to the world on 9 June 1991.
Ritvik component
Ritwik Ghatak was as well as the best producers and a well -known artist, as much as you were expert in screenplay writing. He translated Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ and also presented it. He gave excellent films to Indian cinema, including many films including ‘Meghe Dhaka Tara’, ‘Komal Gandhar e Flat’, ‘Ajantrik’, ‘Suvarnarikha’. He also started making a short film on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, but due to financial troubles it remained incomplete. He said goodbye to the world on 6 February 1976.
Salil Chaudhary
Salil Chaudhary was an Indian music director, lyricist, writer and poet. He prepared music for films in 13 languages including Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Malayalam. He used to play flute, piano and Israj very well. He received the first Filmfare Best Film Award for ‘Do Bigha Zameen’. In addition, he will be awarded the first National Film Award for Best Feature Film, Prix International Award at the Seventh Can Film Festival and Social Progress Award at the Carlovi Veri International Film Festival. For the 1958 film ‘Madhumati’, he received the Filmfare’s Best Music Director Award as well as eight other Filmfare Awards. He received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1988 and Maharashtra Gaurav Award in 1990. He said goodbye to the world on 5 September 1995.
