After the historic World Cup victory of the Indian women’s cricket team, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday invited the team to his residence 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. During this special meeting, many interesting conversations took place with the Indian women’s team, but the most talked about was the team’s all-rounder Deepti Sharma.
PM Modi mentioned his tattoo to Deepti
There was also a discussion between Deepti and the Prime Minister regarding the ‘Jai Shri Ram’ post and Hanuman ji’s tattoo. PM Modi smilingly asked Deepti Sharma about her tattoo and Jai Shri Ram written in her bio on Instagram. After which Deepti told him, “My faith gives me strength in difficult times, when there is pressure on the field, I just remember God.”
Deepti Sharma was the most important player of World Cup 2025. In the final, he not only took wickets but also put the team in a strong position in batting. He also received the title of ‘Player of the Tournament’ for his excellent performance.
Talked to other players too
The Prime Minister also congratulated Amanjot Kaur who took a brilliant catch in the final. He said smilingly, “Keep your eyes on the ball while taking the catch, then the trophy will be visible.” Amanjot said that this was a moment for her which she would remember for the rest of her life.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur told that even when the team lost the World Cup in 2017, she had met PM Modi. He said, “At that time we had promised that one day we will return victorious… today that dream has been fulfilled.”
Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana said that the Prime Minister’s encouragement has always been an inspiration for the team. Indian team’s leading bowler Kranti Gaur told how big a fan her brother is of Modi ji. On hearing this, the Prime Minister also invited him to meet his brother.
