PM Modi Meet Muhammad Yunus: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Bangladesh Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus on Friday (April 4) during the BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. This is the first meeting of PM Modi and Mohammad Yunus after Sheikh Hasina’s coup. On 5 August 2024 last year, Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh and came to India, since then the relations between the two countries have not been normal. However, this bilateral meeting is taking place at a time when Dhaka requested a bilateral meeting during the BIMSTEC summit to resolve the differences.

Earlier, a PTI report said that Prime Minister Modi could meet Younis, although the Ministry of External Affairs did not comment on the proposed meeting. However, on Thursday (April 3), the Prime Minister and Younus sat together in the dinner organized during the BIMSTEC summit, which became a matter of discussion. The tension in bilateral relations has increased further after the comments made by Yunus on the northeastern states of India while attending the annual conference of Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) in China. However, after that the meeting of top leaders of both countries has created a stir.
