PM modi-muhammad yunus meeting: Mohammad Yunus, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Co-Operation (BIMSTEC) summit. After the coup in Bangladesh, this was the first time between the leaders of the two countries. After Sheikh Hasine, after stepping out of the Prime Minister, the relationship between the two countries has come down, so this meeting was considered very important. In this meeting, PM Modi expressed concern about the safety of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh.
PM Modi had advised Mohammad Yunus that any statement that can harm bilateral relations should be avoided. Abdul Basit, who was the High Commissioner of Pakistan in New Delhi on the meeting of PM Modi and Yunus, gave his views. He said that India has strictly responded to Bangladesh. Abdul Basit said that India was not ready to meet Mohammad Yunus during BIMSTEC, but Yunus was given time to meet Bangladesh repeatedly.
Joint statement not released after Modi-Unus meeting

India will ask for reply from Bangladesh: Abdul Basit
According to Abdul Basit, Prime Minister Modi strictly spoke to Mohammad Yunus on the issue of violence with Hindus. He said that when such stress comes in the relationship of two countries, then a meeting does not change things. This requires many meetings. India is currently looking to monitor the equation between Bangladesh, Pakistan and China. Abdul Basit said that India may worry about the North East and in the coming time he will ask Bangladesh to see more answers on this.
