Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (September 12, 2025) during an event held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi took a sarcasm on animal rights activists and also highlighted his selected attitude towards animals. PM Modi said that recently I met some animal lovers, people started laughing as soon as they spoke.
PM Modi said why are you laughing? There are many such people (animal lover) in our country and the special thing is that most of them do not consider cows as animals. On his statement, all the people present including Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat laughed. The Prime Minister’s remarks have come under the backdrop of the debate arising out of the Supreme Court’s directive in Delhi-NCR, in which the stray dogs have been ordered to completely remove the streets and keep them in shelter sites.
Cow is considered sacred in Hinduism
Prime Minister Modi himself has been seen spending time with cows many times and in recent years, his pictures have gone viral while feeding and caressing him during festivals. Please tell that in Hinduism, cow is considered sacred and she is worshiped as cow mother.

Modi government has taken many initiatives for cow protection
The Modi government has started several initiatives for cow protection since 2014, including the establishment of the National Kamdhenu Commission (RKA) in 2019. RKA, working under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, was established for the purpose of conservation, safety and development of cows and their children.
Supreme Court ordered stray dogs
Explain that on August 11, a two-member bench of the Supreme Court, while citing cases of bites of dogs and rabies cases, directed the municipal corporation officials to hold all stray dogs from Delhi-NCR and transfer them permanently. On this order, activists and celebrities expressed heavy resentment and expressed concern about the animals living in the shelter homes.
