Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi spoke on telephone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday (August 8, 2025). President Putin discussed the ongoing struggle in Ukraine with Prime Minister Modi and reviewed the progress of bilateral cooperation.
According to the official statement of PIB, President Putin informed PM Modi about the latest developments related to Ukraine. After this, PM Modi thanked Putin for his detailed assessment and reiterated India’s permanent stance in favor of a peaceful solution to the Russian-Ukraine struggle.
Modi and Putin reiterated the commitment to deepen India-Russia partnership
At the same time, during the talks, the two leaders also reviewed the progress made in India-Russia relations and bilateral agenda and have reiterated the commitment to deepen the special and privileged strategic partnership between the two countries.
Prime Minister Modi invited President Putin to come to India
Apart from this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to come to India for the annual bilateral summit of India-Russia to be held later this year. After the completion of the Russian President’s visit to India, it is expected to give a new momentum to increase cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, defense and energy.
