The government wants ordinary citizens, small shopkeepers, tea waves, stationery or even villagers to be part of the digital network as well as a digital entrepreneur. Let us understand in this article what the PM-Wani scheme is, how it works and how can you earn money from it.
What is PM-Wani Scheme?
PM-Wani is a public Wi-Fi network infrastructure which was approved by the government in December 2020. Its aim is to provide cheap and easy internet in every corner of India, especially in areas where the network is weak or mobile data is expensive.
Under this scheme, any person or shopkeeper can convert his internet into public Wi-Fi hotspot and can earn a charge from people using it.
How to become PM-Wani Partner?
PM-Wani has four type partners, but for common users to become a PDO (public data office) is the easiest and beneficial.
Follow these steps for this:
- Take a good internet connection – such as unlimited plan from Jio, Airtel, BSNL etc.
- Get a Wi-Fi hotspot device installed
- Join a PDOA
- Register by going to PMWani.gov.in
- Set data plan and start service
- There is no license or fee, just once you are setup, you can start giving digital service.
How will security and tracking be?
- Users have to login from OTP verification and mobile number
- All transactions record
- Network management is controlled through PDOA
- User data end-to-end is encrypted
How much can you earn from PM-Wani?
In PM-Wani, you can publicly share your Wi-Fi network and earn by selling data plans on it. These plans are very cheap, so that even the common people can easily use the Internet, and from this you have income.
Some common plans may be like this:
- 1GB data, 1 day validity – about 6 rupees
- 2GB data, 2 days validity – Rs 9
- 5GB data, 3 days validity – 18 rupees
- 20GB data, 7 days validity – 25 rupees
- 40GB data, 14 days validity – for Rs 49
- 100GB data, 30 days validity – Rs 99
From each of these plans you will get a fixed margin or commission, which is usually a few rupees on every transaction. If you also take 15-20 users daily from your hotspot, then you can earn from Rs 3,000 to Rs 10,000 a month.
Earnings will also depend on where your hotspot is, how much traffic is there and how many users are you able to connect.
Who will benefit the most?
- Small shopkeepers (paan, stationery shop, cyber cafes)
- Digital center of rural areas
- Local bus stop, railway station, market area
- Around school or coaching center
Why is this plan special?
- Digital India gives mission strength at the ground level
