Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana 2026: Every parent is worried about the bright future of their children. Parents are worried about their children’s education and their health. To address such concerns, the central and state governments jointly run many schemes.
Today we are going to tell you about one such scheme, whose name is Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). This is a welfare initiative started to help girls and their mothers. Under the PMMVY scheme, the government gives Rs 5000 to pregnant women. Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is one of the Central Government, which has been designed to meet the health and nutrition needs of pregnant women and lactating mothers.
The amount is given in two installments
The objective of this scheme, launched in 2017, is to promote the safety of mothers during pregnancy, improve their health and ensure that they get proper nutrition after the birth of the child. Under this scheme, women are given financial assistance of up to Rs 5000 for their first child. This amount is given in two installments. First installment- Financial assistance of Rs 3000 is given after registration of pregnancy and at least one check-up before delivery of the child. Second installment- Rs 2000 is given after the birth of the child.
The benefit of the scheme (Rs 6000) for the second child is available only if the second child is a daughter. This amount is given in lump sum after the birth of the girl child. In this way, an average total assistance of Rs 6000-11000 is given to an eligible woman.
How to apply?
To avail the benefit of the scheme, the age of the woman should be at least 19 years and the annual income of the family should not be more than Rs 8 lakh. To get this, eligible women will have to submit the application within 270 days of the birth of the child.
Eligible beneficiaries will have to apply online through the official portal of PMMVY https://pmmvy.wcd.gov.in or can apply offline at the nearest Anganwadi Center or Government Primary Health Center. The documents required for this include Aadhar card linked to bank account, bank passbook, ration card or income certificate, MCP card.
