Just before the start of IPL 2026, a new controversy has come to light. Actually, the first match of IPL 2026 is going to be played between Royal Challengers and Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 28 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Before this high voltage match, there is a huge uproar in the Karnataka Assembly regarding VIP tickets.
MLAs created ruckus over VIP tickets
Congress MLA Kashappanavar Vijayanand Shivashankarappa demanded in the Assembly that at least 4 VIP tickets should be given to every MLA. He clearly said, “We are VIPs, we cannot stand in the queue like the general public.”
The MLA also alleged that earlier also he had to stand in long queues for tickets and sit with the general public, which was not appropriate for his position.
Allegations of selling tickets in black
The matter did not stop here. The MLA made serious allegations against the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). He says that free tickets kept for officials are also being sold in black. He claimed that tickets worth Rs 5000 are being sold for up to Rs 35,000, which has raised questions on the entire system.
demand for special facility
The MLAs have demanded not only tickets, but also a separate lounge and special seating arrangement in the stadium. His argument is that KSCA gets facilities like land and security from the government, hence public representatives should get respect.
The government gave assurance
Assembly Speaker U.T. Khadar has given strict instructions to the state government that at least four premium tickets should be given to every MLA. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has assured that the issue will be resolved before the match.
Opinion divided on social media
The opinions of fans seem to be divided on this entire controversy. Some people are saying that the demand of the MLAs is wrong, while some are saying that the public representatives should get this facility.
