Holidays were declared in schools of Prayagraj due to Makar Sankranti and Mauni Amavasya baths. Schools of all boards from classes 1 to 12 will remain closed from January 16 to January 20. This decision was taken due to congestion and traffic restrictions. DIOS PN Singh gave the order on the instructions of DM Manish Kumar Verma. Instructions have been given to strictly comply with this order.
Magh Mela is going on in Prayagraj. Due to the auspicious coincidence of Makar Sankranti and Shattila Ekadashi, there is a huge crowd of devotees at the Sangam. Till 8 am on Wednesday, about 15 lakh devotees took bath in the Sangam and experienced faith. During this time, everyone from youth to elders was seen taking a dip in the Sangam.
More than 2 crore people are estimated to take a dip
At the same time, this time on the Makar Sankranti bathing festival, it is estimated that more than 2 crore people will take a dip in the Sangam. In such a situation, the security arrangements are also very strict. Police and security forces are deployed everywhere. The fair administration has banned the entry of four-wheelers since January 13, so that the crowd remains under control at various places. Police Commissioner Jogendra Kumar said that mounted police, foot patrolling, water police and RAF personnel are working with full precaution on the Sangam bank.
Badraj company also deployed
Besides, Badraj Company is also engaged, so that no untoward incident happens. He said that a special diversion plan has been made to bring the crowd easily to Sangam and from there back to their destination. The Commissioner said that right now the crowd is good and everyone is safe.
Continuous monitoring of crowd through AI cameras
However, if the crowd increases further in future, emergency plans are ready. The crowd is being continuously monitored through AI cameras and on the basis of that the administration is taking necessary steps. It is noteworthy that after 23 years, there is a rare coincidence of Ekadashi falling on Makar Sankranti, due to which the importance of bathing on this day has increased manifold. On this occasion, people are reaching their respective ghats not only from Prayagraj but also from religious cities like Varanasi, Ayodhya and Mathura. Crowds of devotees everywhere are seen becoming an echo of faith and a symbol of devotion.
