In most countries, government jobs are considered stable and safe. But the way of fixing the salary of the employees can vary. The same is with India and Pakistan, both places are completely different. While the Pay Commission applies in India, the NPS (National Pay Scale) system runs in Pakistan.

How does India’s pay commission work?

A new pay commission is set up every 10 years in India. Its aim is to increase the salary, allowances and pension of employees according to time and inflation. Right now the 7th Pay Commission is implemented in the country, which was implemented in 2016. Now the 8th Pay Commission is going to come, on which the salary of the employees is expected to increase by 20% to 35%.

The special thing is that whenever the new Pay Commission is applicable in India, it is applied to the whole country in a uniform manner. In this, the opinion of employee unions and experts is also taken, so that the decisions are transparent and every class can be taken care of.

What is Pakistan’s NPS system?

No commission is formed in Pakistan like India. There the salary and allowances of the employees are determined through the NPS (National Pay Scale) system.

In this system, employees are divided from grade 1 to grade 22. Basic salary and allowances are fixed according to each grade. But the decision to increase the salary in Pakistan is usually taken every year or during the budget. That is, the government there announces to increase the salary by looking at its financial position.

What is the difference between the system of both countries?

Both these systems of India and Pakistan have many similarities, but there are some important differences. Talking about India, the Pay Commission decides a similar structure for the whole country every 10 years. Every province in Pakistan can change NPS grade and allowances according to its economic status.

The Commission reports are public in India and employee organizations are also included in it. The government takes the decision directly in Pakistan, which is considered a lack of transparency. Unions are important in India, while their role in Pakistan is limited
