Before the formation of the new government in Bihar, the efforts to get a place in the cabinet have intensified among the constituent parties of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). According to sources, both BJP and JD(U) are considering including some new faces in the cabinet. Along with this, the share of existing ministers will also be maintained almost intact.

Five to six new faces from JD(U) can be included in the cabinet. State President Umesh Singh Kushwaha, elected from Mahnar seat, is also likely to get a place in the new team of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will submit his resignation to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on November 19 and will take oath as Chief Minister for the 10th time.

Some new faces may join Bihar cabinet

Sources said JD(U) may retain most of its ministers, while BJP may induct some new faces. 24 out of 25 ministers of the previous cabinet were successful in winning the elections this time, while Sumit Kumar Singh could not save his seat. Sumit Kumar Singh won as an independent candidate in 2020 and later became a minister from JD(U) quota.

These colleagues of Chirag may get a chance in the board

Apart from JD(U) and BJP, Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLMO) will also join the new government. According to sources, LJP is likely to get three ministerial posts and HAM and RLMO are likely to get one ministerial post each. Maximum 16 ministers from BJP and 14 ministers from JD(U) can take oath on November 20.

JD(U) leaders Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Shravan Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Lacey Singh, Sheela Mandal, Madan Sahni, Ratnesh Sada, Mohammad Jama Khan, Jayant Raj, Umesh Singh Kushwaha and Ashok Chaudhary are being considered for inclusion in the cabinet. Among the new faces are Rahul Kumar Singh, Sudhanshu Shekhar, Kaladhar Prasad Mandal and Panna Lal Singh Patel.

Current ministers of BJP may get another chance

Most of the sitting ministers from BJP may get a second chance. These include Samrat Chaudhary, Prem Kumar, Mangal Pandey, Vijay Kumar Sinha, Nitish Mishra, Renu Devi, Jibesh Kumar, Neeraj Kumar Singh, Janak Ram, Hari Sahni, Kedar Prasad Gupta, Surendra Mehta, Santosh Kumar Singh and Sunil Kumar. Among the new faces, Rana Randhir, Gayatri Devi and Vijay Kumar Khemka are likely to get a place in the cabinet.

These NDA leaders will attend the swearing in ceremony

The historic Gandhi Maidan has been closed for the general public till November 20 for the swearing-in ceremony. The administration has made extensive security arrangements. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and many senior NDA leaders can attend the ceremony. Along with this exercise, it will be important to decide the political equation and balance of constituent parties in the new government of Bihar.
