The phone conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump on the occasion of Diwali has now taken a political color. Both the leaders confirmed this conversation, while Congress leader and party general secretary Jairam Ramesh has given a sharp reaction on this. Modi had written on

Jairam Ramesh wrote in his post that the Prime Minister has finally publicly admitted that President Trump called him and both talked. But the Prime Minister has simply said that the US President wished Diwali. Where Modi hides it, Trump exposes it. He alleged that the US President has issued a statement on his behalf saying that India has assured to stop importing oil from Russia. This is the fourth time in the last six days that President Trump has announced India’s policy.

Trump’s statement and questions on Russian oil imports
Recently, during a conversation with journalists in Washington, Trump had told that he had talked to PM Modi on topics like trade and purchase of crude oil from Russia. Trump had said that he is confident that India will now reduce or stop oil imports from Russia, so that America’s sanctions policy remains respected. Whereas PM Modi had only said in his post that thanks for President Trump’s call and Diwali wishes.
