Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit to be held in Tianjin from 30 August. During this time he will meet with China President Xi Jinping. This meeting of PM Modi is going to be special in many ways. Amid the ongoing discussion about the tariff of US President Donald Trump, PM Modi’s visit to China will be an important step towards strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

Prime Minister Modi and Jinping will meet on Sunday (August 31. Relations between India and China are filled with ups and downs, but PM Modi’s visit is expected to improve it. China recently assured India of help. China will also give rare economy to India with a tunnel digging machine.

In 1950, there was a political relationship between India and China

India and China formed diplomatic relations on 1 April 1950, but the 1962 border struggle shocked these relations. In 1988, the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s visit to China started to bring back the relationship back on track. Subsequently, in 2003, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s visit formed a special representative system and after that in 2005, Chinese Prime Minister Wayne Jiabao’s visit to India promoted a strategic and collaborative partnership.

India-China relations improved during BRICS

In 2014, President Xi Jinping’s visit to India laid the foundation for the development partnership, while in 2015 Prime Minister Modi’s visit to China maintained this pace. The two countries raised mutual confidence in Wuhan in 2018 and informal summit in Chennai in 2019. However, tension on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh in 2020 affected the relationship. Modi and Jinping’s meeting improved the relationship during the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia in 2024.

America will get chili due to India-China relation

Trump may feel bad about India and China. Trump has been angry with India and imposed 50 percent tariff, but he gave China some relief in tariffs. Now PM Modi will be in China.
