Waqf bill in Lok Sabha: The government is going to present the Waqf Amendment Act in this session of Parliament. BJP and Congress have issued whip to Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs for April 2, 2025 and 3 April 2025. Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Tuesday (April 01, 2025) that the Waqf Amendment Bill will be introduced in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday (April 02, 2025).
If the opposition is constantly opposing this bill, then the bill brought by the Central Government clearly states that the assets that are under the Waqf will be the assets of Waqf even further, if there is no dispute about them. This is also an important point which was discussed a lot.
Will the cases of grabbing the land change by changing religion?
According to sources, it has been said in this bill that whoever is donating land to Waqf will have to prove that for at least 5 years he has been following Islam (this rein on the matters of changing religion by changing religion). All political parties had objected to this issue.
Controversy about Waqf by user
During this discussion, there was a lot of ruckus. Waqf by user is that what are those assets that can be disputed about. An example of this was given that assuming someone donated any property to Waqf 100 years ago and there is no document, then will the government take such property in its possession or a new case will start on it. On this, sources have been quoted as saying that only those assets have been amended, which have already been in controversies. After the law was enacted, Waqf’s properties will remain the same as before. Except for disputed assets.
It was suggested by JDU that the government has accepted this suggestion of NDA colleagues, not tampering with existing old mosques, dargahs or other Muslim religious places.

What did Kiren Rijiju say on the opposition’s objection?
The second part of the current Parliament session or budget session ends on Friday (April 04). Rijiju said that he wants to give the MPs full time to debate the changes, due to which there is a sharp noise between the ruling BJP and the opposition. The bill will be introduced in the Lok Sabha after the Question Hour and eight hours time has been allotted for discussion. It can also be extended at the discretion of Chairman Om Birla.
